KEA‘AU — A slew of BIIF baseball and softball run-rule routs took place across the island this week.

On Thursday, Kamehameha-91Ö±²¥ baseball got back in the win column after dropping its two previous games — run-ruling Kea‘au 19-0 at the Cougars’ home diamond.

The Warriors elevated to 3-2, posting 15 base hits to Kea‘au’s zero.

KSH’s Pono Kanoa led the lineup with three base hits and three RBI, including a triple. Teammate Iokepa Martines also had three hits and a triple, while Zanden Kepaa, Brock Ayudan, Dayton Hansen, Hunter Yamamoto, Kaikoa Nobriga, Eriz Passi, Matryz Camero, Eli Mercado and Blayze Leslie each logged a hit.

Passi earned a win on the mound after allowing no runs while striking out four. Kendrick Stevens and Zaen Coloma also saw time on the mound.

The Cougars went through four pitchers in their bullpen — Tryton Corotan, Elson Kalawe, John Ramos and Vayden Madamba.

The Warriors will have a quick turnaround, set to rematch Kea‘au at 1 p.m. this afternoon at home.

On Wednesday, HPA baseball blasted Pahoa 21-0, improving to 4-1 while the Daggers dropped to 0-3.

Out of Ka Makani’s 15 hits, Kahea Leleiwi led the way with three base hits and five RBI. Leleiwi leads the team in in hits.

Teammates Ed Lustik, Asher Anderson, Owen Smith, Walker Smith and David Culbertson each posted two hits. Leon Kikukawa and Josh Lee added one hit apiece.

On the mound, Culbertson earned the win, while Leleiwi and Jake Phillips also threw.

The red and white return to the diamond at 1 p.m. today against Kohala in Kapa‘au.

Pahoa, still in search of its first win, will return next week.

Also on Wednesday was Honoka‘a vs. Kohala, with the Dragons winning 10-0 in five innings. The 4-0 Dragons posted 10 hits to the 0-4 Cowboys’ one.

Josyah Napoleon-Umeda, Rory Crabbe and Jerremyah Umeda each had two hits to lead Honoka‘a. Teammates Jayden Salazar, Kiakahi Lindsey, Daniel Salazar and Kamalaa Kaae-Petrie each had one hit.

On the mound, Jayden Salazar earned the win after striking out seven. Kaae-Petrie also pitched, striking out six.

Kaua Reyes secured the Cowboys’ lone hit, while Kaimana Nakamura, Cullen Hook and Reyes all pitched for the black and gold.

The Dragons have been outright dominant to begin the season, out-scoring opponents 34-2 — including two straight mercy-rule shutouts. They’ll look to keep riding the momentum against Ka‘u at 1 p.m. on the Hamakua Coast. When the two teams last matched up on March 11, the Dragons won 7-2.

Honoka‘a’s softball team also handled the Cowgirls on Wednesday, winning in a 22-6 rout. On Tuesday, Waiakea baseball beat Hilo 10-0 to remain perfect this season.
