FOLK Book Club to meet May 16

2023 AAUW-Kona Scholarship Recipients
The American Assoc. of University Women (AAUW) Kona recently awarded three $2,000 general scholarships, along with two $1,000 scholarships for 91直播 Community College – Palamanui.
The American Assoc. of University Women (AAUW) Kona 2023 Scholarship Palamanui Recipients are Keilana Crane and Lori LeQuieu. General Scholarships were awarded to Sophia Burgess and Kimber O’Connell, from Konawaena High School, and Jayden Hall from West 91直播 Exploratory Academy (WHEA).
Keilana Crane is continuing her studies at Palamanui and currently takes prerequisites for the Registered Nursing program. She is a full time student, part time employee, and community volunteer. Lori Le Quieu is returning to college and plans to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. She is currently a Dental Assistant. Sophia Burgess hopes to attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and major in Government and Policy. She hopes to return to 91直播 after college and become involved in 91直播’senvironmental policy development. Jayden Hall plans to attend Chapman University in Orange, Calif., and major in chemistry. During her high school years, she developed a self-directed project of Lunar Planting, and studied its effects. Kimber O’Connell will attend the University of 91直播 at Manoa and major in Education. She wants to return to south Kona and teach in the elementary school system.
