Higino Domingo Eder, 69, of Naalehu died Dec. 21 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in the Philippines, he was retired from harvesting macadamia nuts by hand in Ka‘u. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 11) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 4 p.m. Cremation to follow. Survived by wife, Leonida S. Eder of Naalehu; daughters, Donna, Jenny, Lyn and Madelyn; siblings, Marlino (Precy) Eder of Keaau, Lucrecio (Tina) Eder of Pahala, Fely (Arcy) Bancipra of the Philippines, Nicomedes (Divina) Eder of Hilo and Jose (Norma) Eder of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry Patrick Gomes, 93, of Holualoa died Oct. 11 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired maintenance supervisor for the former Kona Surf Resort, a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, cowboy for John Gomes Sr. Ranch, Catholic Youth Organization coach and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Casual attire.
