Antoinette “Toni” Amii, 72, of Hilo died Nov. 29 in the Puueo Poi Factory apartments fire in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, she was a waitress and was known for making tamales. John Lopes Jr., aka “Aloha John,” 88, of Kailua-Kona and Colorado Springs, Colo., died Jan. 28 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born on Oahu, he was a retired chief master sergeant in the U.S., an employee of Westpac Restorations and docent at the Museum of WWII Aviation. Services at a later date.
