The Big Island received strong representation in the recently-released ScoringLive All-91Ö±²¥ girls basketball teams, led by Konawaena senior Mikela Salazar-Harrell and Kohala senior Adriana Soriano.
Salazar-Harrell — named to the Division I Second Team — was the state-ranked Wildcats’ top scorer against the BIIF and overall, averaging nearly 14 points per game on the Big Island. The star guard scored in double digits 10 times, including a season-best 21 points against Pahoa in Dec. 2025. Salazar-Harrell’s player profile is what every young hooper should aspire to be — a pass-first, unselfish player that always looks for the right play, instead of just consistently looking to score.
Salazar-Harrell’s services helped Konawaena clinch another BIIF Division I Championship with a perfect 13-0 conference record — averaging nearly 64 points per game while allowing under 13. Finishing 22-3 overall, the Wildcats fell to Iolani in the state semifinals. They beat Moanalua 41-29 in the quarterfinals.
Kona guard Kaylie Yamasaki was named to the Third Team. Like Salazar-Harrell, Yamasaki is also a pass-first player in head coach Bobby Awa’s motion system — always looking to set her teammates up by collapsing the defense at the rim and kicking out to shooters or finding cutters at the top of the key.
Yamasaki scored a season-best 12 points against Kohala in Dec. 2025.
Salazar-Harrell and Yamasaki’s teammates — Caysea Kaupu, Kiilei Leleiwi and Angeline Molina — were named as honorable mentions to the team. Kaupu and Leleiwi were the next two-best scorers on Kona, combining for nearly 16 points per game overall.
Waiakea, which finished second in BIIF DI with a 12-2 record and state tournament berth, had three players named to the DI honorable-mention list — Bryia Carenio, Ariena Doran and Harley Cabreros. The trio consisted of the Warriors’ top-three scorers, combining for over 37 points per game. Doran scored a season-best 30 points against 91Ö±²¥ Prep in Nov. 2025, which was the highest output of any Waiakea player in 2025-26. Carenio scored a season-high 29 points, while Cabreros scored a year-best 21.
Soriano led Division II with a Second-Team selection. Soriano played a key part in the resurgence of the Cowgirls’ program, helping the team clinch their second straight BIIF DII title during her senior campaign. Prior to the 2024-25 season, Kohala hadn’t won the island championship since 1991.
A natural-born scorer, Soriano led the Cowgirls in scoring with 15 points per game against the BIIF and 14.6 overall. She scored in double figures 11 times, helping the black and gold reach an 11-7 overall record. In the DII island championship on Jan. 28, Soriano scored a season-high 25 points to lift Kohala past Kamehameha-91Ö±²¥ by a score of 55-51.
Teammate Chawai Dunhour, a sophomore stud for the Cowgirls, was named to the DII Third Team. Dunhour was Kohala’s No. 2 scorer, averaging 12.2 points per game on the island and 11.5 overall. The star forward scored a season-best 21 points in the consolation state tournament against Kaiser on Feb. 6.
The Cowgirls fell to Lanai in the state quarterfinals on Feb. 5. They beat Aiea 56-23 in the opening round.
In the DII honorable mentions, KSH’s Shailan Benevides and Peyton Kalai were named after being the Warriors’ top-two scorers throughout the season. Benevides scored a season-best 22 points with five 3-pointers against Baldwin in Nov. 2025, while Kalai reached 20 points against Ka‘u on Jan. 16.
KSH finished the season with a 15-9 overall record, falling to Sacred Hearts in the first round of the HHSAA tournament.
Honoka‘a’s Ava Tabubuc was the lone Dragon named to the honorable-mention list. Tabucbuc was the green and gold’s only double-digit scorer this past season, averaging 14.1 points per game. She dropped a season-high 25 points against HPA on Jan. 24.
