Abigail Kuuleinani (Cho) Bio, age 69, of Texas, formerly of Kealakekua, died March 19, 2025. Her husband, Victorino Buela Bio, 82, of Texas, also formerly of Kealakekua, died April 16, 2025. She was a licensed practical nurse who worked for several Kona doctors, while he woprked for the National Park Service. A local celebration of life for two lives well-lived and deeply shared will be on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, at Lanakila Church in Kainaliu. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Service at 11 a.m.

Honorata Mangiboyat “Lela” Ganir, 98, of Hilo died Jan. 17. Born in Pahoa, she was a retired supervisor for the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory, anthurium and citrus farmer, and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa, and a woman of unwavering faith, generosity and love for her family. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8-9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
