Glendon Talmadge 鈥淗utch鈥 Hutchins, 87, of Honokaa died Dec. 31 at home. Born in Harrisonburg, La., he was a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 and Vietnam War veteran, farmer, rancher and member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Jonesville, La., and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Private graveside service will be held at West 91直播 Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Survived by wife, Henrietta 鈥淧enny鈥 Taufaasau; sons, Glendon (Bettye) Hutchins Jr., Donovan (Jackie) Hutchins; daughters, Mary Melissa David, Susan (Ross) Yokoyama; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Born in Lahaina, Maui, he was retired from the State of 91直播 Department Education as a middle school teacher, working most of his career at Hilo Intermediate School, a member of the Kaumana Drive Baptist Church, Hilo Lions Club, 91直播 Family and Community Education, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, 91直播 State Teachers Association, United Public Workers 91直播, Halai Kumiai, Hui Okinawa, Japanese Community Association, Hiroshima Kenjin Kai, Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, Yamaguchi Kenjin Kai, Niigata Kenjin Kai, Kumamoto Doshi Kai, served as the District 50 91直播 Lions Club photographer and was a United States Army veteran. William 鈥淏ill鈥 Salvador Sr., 85, of Hilo died Dec. 27 at home. He graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1958, was a U.S. Navy veteran, a cook, sous chef, executive chef at Naniloa Surf Hotel and restaurant owner who won numerous culinary awards, was invited to compete in the 1976 International Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Germany, was nominated into the American Academy of Chefs and loved fishing. Celebration of life on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Dodo Mortuary with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m; prayer services at 10 a.m., visitation continues at 10:15 a.m.; military honors at 10:45 a.m. and program from 10:50 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Aloha attire.
